Planned in partnership with Generation Investment Management
Sustainability is no longer an emerging investment theme. There are many managers with strong track records delivering outsized returns. The reports are in: sustainability can deliver alpha. Yet not all sustainable investment strategies are created equal and not all fund managers think sustainability supports their return goals. This session will spotlight three managers across asset classes that reveal strategies that deliver strong environmental performance alongside return.

- Renée Beaumont, Partner, Generation Investment Management
- Max Messervy, Senior Associate, Responsible Investment, Mercer

11:00am-12:00pm: Plenary Panel | Visionary Voices in Impact Investing: A Discussion Among Asset Owners
Innovative mission related investors are forging new paths. They are proving that old rules do not always apply and that the support they need often cannot be found in a single advisor. Instead, visionary investors are relying on a combination of their own education, a team of curated advisors with discrete specialties, and a measured amount of trial and error in their practice. In this session, you will hear from two investors who have taken novel approaches to building their investment portfolios and theories of change. They will also share their processes for curating the investment infrastructure and support networks each needed to realize their cutting-edge mission related investing strategies.
- Ron Cordes, Co-Founder, Cordes Foundation
- Robyn Polansky Morrison, Director of Impact Advisory, Align Impact
- Eric Stephenson, Portfolio Director, Cordes Foundation
1:15-1:45pm: Keynote | Fred Swaniker, Founder, African Leadership Group
1:45-3:00pm: Plenary Discussion | Equity, Nonviolence, and Inclusion for All: Expecting More from Investors!
Planned in partnership with Boston Common Asset Management
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace have long been focus areas for impact investors, but have gained urgency and prominence in recent times. Social movements such as #Metoo, Black Lives Matter, and the dynamic community of investors seeking solutions to social/environmental market failures, have forced us to examine the homogeneity of prevailing industry paradigms. At the same time, the importance of Diversity as a value-driver is being widely recognized. In this session, Geeta Aiyer, a pioneer in SRI and ESG, will lead a spirited discussion with two influential investors about the significance of investing for inclusivity, how this perspective can reshape capital markets, and what today’s Impact Investor should know about addressing Gender Equality and Racial Justice.
- Geeta Aiyer, CEO, Boston Common Asset Management (moderator)
- Suzanne Biegel, Catalyst at Large
- Daryn Dodson, Managing Partner, Illumen Capital
